Staying at the Auberge St. Pierre while in Quebec City felt like returning home. We arrived on a gloomy morning with a snowstorm on the horizon. The hotel is perfectly located on the quiet but picturesque cobblestoned street of Rue Saint-Pierre, just steps away from Quartier Petit Champlain (which, fun-fact, claims to be the oldest shopping street in North America!) and the Funicular that takes you up to Château Frontenac. In other words, it’s close enough to the tourist action but feels like you can step away and get some peace.

From the minute we stepped into the lobby (which is shared with their sister property, Hotel 71) we could tell that the staff were genuine and friendly. It felt like we were being welcomed into someone’s family home! We weren’t able to check in right away since we arrived early, but they stored our luggage and we spent a snowy day walking around Quebec. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite spots in another blog post, including the coziest places to hideaway during a snowstorm!

The hotel is actually housed in a 19th-century heritage building that used to be the offices of the Quebec Fire Insurance Company. You can still see this written in the stone facade outside, and even the interior has kept some of that old-world charm with beautiful woodwork and exposed antique piping. Right across the street is the Museum of Civilization, which we heard great things about but didn’t get the chance to visit.

The suite we stayed in was undeniably charming. There was a little kitchenette, a lounge with a TV, and a huge bathroom with a shower and a jacuzzi tub. I can’t think of a better place to come home to after a long day of walking around in the snow.

Breakfast was served in the small dining room on the first floor, and we were always satisfied with the amount and variety of foods offered. The Belgian waffles are a must!

I want to go back to Quebec City just so I could stay at the Auberge St. Pierre again! This is definitely one of the best boutique hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Visit their website for more info and booking: https://www.auberge-saint-pierre.fr/en/.
